he person filling this role would be responsible for all aspects of administration of our BI platforms including:
- SQL Server (DB and Analysis Services for our Data Warehouse)
- Informatica ILM
- SAP Data Services (ETL)
- SAP Business Objects (Reporting and Dashboards)
We are looking for someone that has experience with at least one of the platforms, and has the aptitude and drive to quickly get up to speed on the others. They ideally would have experience with similar tools from other vendors.
The person must also have a solid understanding and demonstrated experience in the activities and concepts behind administering an environment such as this:
- Ability to understand the system architecture
- Managing security and access control
- Coordinating and managing migration of artifacts (code, reports, etc) through the landscape; DEV -> QA -> PREPROD -> PROD
- Configuring and monitoring of performance and usage
- Planning and coordinating software upgrades and patches
- Working with our infrastructure team to plan backup and recovery
- Planning and executing periodic maintenance
- Troubleshooting and production support
- Anticipating scalability requirements given historical usage trends
- Good documentation skills
- Natural ability for independent learning
- Natural ability for troubleshooting
- Ability to communicate and get along well with others
The right candidate would be able to quickly begin establishing and documenting a system administration process that is tailored to the platforms mentioned above, with an initial focus on the platform(s) they are knowledgeable of, and then research and learn the remaining platforms so that the same can be created.
