Event Manager - Marketing Communications Director - Oracle
The Corporate Event Marketing team is responsible for delivering Oracle's vision, strategy, direction and innovation through a variety of worldwide events ranging from Oracle OpenWorld, JavaOne and Oracle Develop to other large-scale events. These events target prospects, customers, developers and partners at all levels within an organization. The group's main objective is to produce the right event, with the right messages at the right time to the right audience.
The Event Marketing Communications Director role is critical to the audience acquisition / demand generation cycle for Oracle's large events and conferences as well as communication of event messaging to the targeted audiences. The successful candidate will manage a small team that will drive the strategy and execution of demand generation and messaging for these conferences globally. Elements of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Managing a small team of people.
- Developing the strategy and overseeing the implementation of the global demand generation
plan for Oracle's flagship conferences, including Oracle OpenWorld, JavaOne and Oracle Develop.
- Working closely with key internal partners in the development of this plan, including the campaigns team, PR, the web team, the social media and video teams, and the creative services/branding team.
- Strategizing and spearheading our efforts in the use of social media as part of our outreach and demand generation programs.
- Creation of our internal communications plan. This includes targeting the sales teams with appropriate content as well as other constituencies at Oracle.
- Reporting and analysis of how our marketing campaigns are working, done in conjunction with the various teams we work with.
- Overseeing the delivery of onsite messaging through signage, conference guides and various online communications.
- Benchmarking against and analyzing best practices within and outside of the industry.
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrated experience managing a team of direct reports, including skill and career development of employees.
- Demonstrated experience interacting with and successfully influencing people and organizations who are not directly managed by this role.
- Ability to prioritize competing projects in a dynamic and demanding environment.
- Effective communication across all levels of the organization.
- Lead cross functional teams in the tasks that are needed to drive demand or communicate our messages.
-Ability to analyze our campaign results on an on-going basis and modify plans quickly as needed.
- Maintain and communicate brand advertising guidelines. Provide support to others managing partner advertising.
- Ability to look at both the larger picture as well as the smallest of details.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar marketing communications role and work environment.
- Thorough understanding of corporate events and the overall event planning cycle.
- Experience with high-volume events with audience size ranging from 500 to 50,000.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and persuasion skills.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills, attention to detail and focus on results.
- High level of energy, drive, enthusiasm and commitment.
- Flexibility and ability to work in a dynamic environment and willingness and openness to learn.
- Ability to work in a high-pressured, fast-moving and challenging environment.
- Creative and inventive person with passion to learn and try new marketing approaches – significant social media experience required.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally, occasionally on short notice.
