Paralegal

Our collaborative, results-focused Legal Team is seeking a certified paralegal who meets the following qualifications:

•Four Year college degree preferred; 2-3 years paralegal experience.
•Paralegal certificate required (ABA approved).
•Litigation, copyright and trademark experience preferred.
•Analytical, research, and problem-solving skills required
•Ability and desire to learn the basics of copyright and trademark law as applicable to infringement
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Organizational skills with a proven ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and projects at one time
•Demonstrated ability to foster relationships with all levels of staff, including Senior Management
•Self-motivated, flexible, enthusiastic and pro-active team player
•Advanced computer skills especially Internet working knowledge, MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, and Access;
•Working knowledge of new technologies (e.g., smartphones/tablets) preferred
•Experience managing and storing contracts preferred
•Familiarity with psychological tests helpful

Your responsibilities will include:

Infringement Investigation and Enforcement 35%
Investigate trademark and copyright infringements of intellectual property of CPP & that of its authors. Prepare detailed report of findings.

Non-Commercial Permission Agreements 35%
Review CPP manuscripts, draft agreements (i.e., permission for use of intellectual property), track royalty & license fees.

Copyright & Trademark Maintenance & Protection 10%
Prepare copyright applications to the Library of Congress; prepare specimens for proof of usage to the US Trademark & Patent Office.


Administrative Support for the Legal Department
Assist and provide a range of legal support to Counsel, General Counsel, Director of Legal Operations and other legal team professionals engaged in supporting CPP's corporate law department
