Description and Responsibilities:
DCG Systems has an exciting opportunity for an Optical Design Engineer who will primarily focus on the design and development of a range of optical sub-systems, lenses, and opto- mechanical elements pertaining to high-end semiconductor inspection systems. You will work closely with the product development team, marketing manager, and the research group. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated technical person with a passion for hands on work. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Required:
- Derive, analyze and optimize complex optical systems (primarily IR microscopy subsystems: objectives, illuminators, relay lenses, etc) at the conceptual and detailed design level.
- Document technical results and present to the larger technical team in both formal and informal environments.
- Create and maintain system design documentation during the transfer to contract manufacturers.
- Managing contract manufacturers through the entire fabrication process-finalizing the design, developing the validation protocols, manufacturing and verifying the systems.
- Plan and execute experiments to solve technical problems.
- Responsible for complex optical lens design for DCG optical systems.
Preferred:
- Good understanding and experience with lens design using Zemax, Code V or OSLO software.
- Expertise specifying optical and opto-electronics components and familiarity with vendors and manufacturers of the same.
- Expertise in design of illumination schemes for 2D detectors.
- Excellent physics-based design and problem solving skills.
- Excellent hands-on lab skills in characterization and problem-solving.
- Experience opto-mechanical design integration including mechanical tolerancing.
- Experience with lasers and lasers scanning mechanisms.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks is a plus.
- Knowledge of Failure Analysis and Yield Process in the semiconductor field.
- Previous experience at a semiconductor capital equipment company or at a supplier to a semiconductor capital equipment company.
- Previous experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE).

Education
- Bachelor's degree in Physics with a proven background in optical design from an accredited university required.
- Maters or PhD in Physics with a proven background in optical design from an accredited university preferred.
