Senior QA Engineer, Application Services (Candidates must be able to read and write OOP)
San Carlos, CA
We are looking for a talented candidate with several years of experience in Quality Assurance to join our QA team, working on MarkLogic Application Services. This position will be at an individual contributor level as part of a collaborative, fast-paced team, but will be relied upon to take a lead contributor role in planning and decision-making for the QA group as a whole.
As a member of the core development team, you'll also work closely with developers to understand features and create robust comprehensive test plans to verify functionality. We look for well-rounded candidates with solid analytical skills, an enthusiasm for taking ownership of features, a strong commitment to quality, and the ability to work closely and communicate effectively with development and other teams.
We'll consider candidates with varying degrees of seniority, fitting the position level to the appropriate individual.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Plan, develop, execute and automate tests against software products and enhancements
• Work with the development team to create advanced software procedures and tests
• Develop strong test automation and enhance existing test framework using Java and XQuery
• Develop and run performance and scale tests
• Validate code changes against existing test suite; build new automated unit tests to validate features and defects
• Debug, conduct root cause analysis, diagnose defects and provide detailed input to development
• Lead QA testing efforts and mentor junior engineers
• Assess and provide valuable feedback on products/features
• Configure and setup different software stacks
• Review documentation and provide meaningful feedback
Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience in Engineering, particularly in Quality Assurance for enterprise software products
• Experience developing automated tests for large scale software applications or systems
• Must be knowledgeable in UNIX and Shell scripting
• Experience using programming languages such as Java and shell scripts
• Prior experience with web application testing
• BS degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline
• Experience in Load, Stress and Performance testing
• Strong documentation and analytical skills
• Working knowledge of XML/XQuery/Xpath is a plus, as is experience using programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or related
• Advanced practical experience using Selenium is ideal
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-playing attitude
