Storage Technologist;
Job Summary;
This position in Huawei R&D US will become a key member of a storage architect team investigating opportunities and disruptive solutions, across the memory and storage hierarchy, capitalizing on the emergence of “New Memory” technologies (e.g. CBRAM, RRAM, STT-MRAM, PCM, …). The candidate is responsible for projecting market and technology trends 5+ years in the future, identifying key roadblocks and disruptive opportunities ahead of the industry, and prototyping full, licensable solutions leading to significant future products.
This storage technologist needs to have a good understanding of various Non Volatile memory technologies. He needs to use his understanding to apply for SSD design and consider wear leveling, data retention, data integrity, P/E endurance, IOPS and latency optimization.
This candidate needs to use various analysis tools to analyze the various Non Volatile memory products and work with other architects and design teams to research various ways to optimize the NV memory characteristics for SSD product.
A good understanding of various ECC algorithms is preferred to research on the best way for future NV memory error protection mechanisms.
Ability to work with hardware and software teams to come up with the best design algorithm.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities;
Watch industry trend on various Non-Volatile Memory trends;
Study and select appropriate ECC algorithms for various SSD medium;
Define characterization techniques for various NV memory medium;
Define test environment for various NV memory medium;
Work with SSD architecture and logic team to select and define the best ECC and reliability algorithms;
Minimum Job Requirements;
Should be PHD and ten more years experience in storage area.
• Ability to work closely with storage system designers to define proper product development with new memory technologies.
• Experience in identifying long-term memory/storage hierarchy problems and opportunities that are critical to customers
• Experience defining and developing novel compute and storage system architectures and solutions to these long-term memory/storage hierarchy problems utilizing both mainstream and emerging solid-state memory technologies.
• Ability to track related research developments and competitor’s use of these technologies in published prototypes
• Ability to initiate and lead new research project proposals on memory/none volatile memory.
