Status: Full-time, Exempt

General Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director supports the established seasonal marketing campaigns, goals, and budgets by managing and coordinating areas of NDNU's marketing communications, including email communications, publications, direct mail, admissions reports, and other online digital marketing efforts. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for all enrollment (search to yield) communications including creating original content for all forms of communications and crafting a proactive and effective communication strategy for enrollment activities.

Specific Responsibilities:

• E-mail Communications

Coordinates and executes email communications for NDNU's marketing and admissions, as well as oversees and consults on email communications and deployment strategies for other enrollment areas.

Assists with new JRM communications and updates.

Creates original copy for a wide variety of organizational email communications using up to date best practices in email communication strategies.

Edits email and other existing copy as needed to adapt to email formats and accurately proofs all work to adhere to NDNU's high editorial standards.

Develops email campaigns, lists for all marketing email communications, and consults on usage and creation of lists for other organizational units as necessary.

Monitors and reports on opt-outs, hard bounces and other issues related to email list management.

Using TargetX and JRM platform graphically helps to produce all forms of Marketing and admissions emails going out from organization; consults on email design and branding guidelines for other emails produced for the organization, as necessary.

Acts as gatekeeper for all emails deployed by NDNU Enrollment.

• Digital Advertising

Helps write copy and works with outside vendors and inside resources to assist with online campaigns through education sites and directories.

Helps with set-up and management of external education site partners and directories to ensure content and is updated and monitored quarterly. Works with updates at contract renewal dates.

Works with Marketing Director, Marketing Manager and outside contractor and agencies to plan, execute and monitor effectiveness of campaigns to ensure excellent ROI on marketing dollars and to help meet enrollment goals.

• Publications and Print/Direct Mail Communications

Create new program sheets and keep updated. Coordinate with Marketing Manager to ensure information is consistent on website to mirror updated information.

Manage recruiting publications and brochures. Manage and update content and design with outside vendor. Coordinate all content with admissions.

Manage inventory to ensure we are stocked with sufficient quantities of publications.

Help manage budget for publications and printing.

Coordinate design, printing, and mailing of postcards and other printed communications.

• Academic and College Partner

Liaison between marketing, admissions and academics to ensure major listings, courses and program information is up-to-date so information can be updated and correct on program sheets for recruiting and website.

Explore opportunities within the Community College partners for maximum exposure through marketing on campuses and college websites. Check websites quarterly to check links and content for accuracy.

Assist Office of Admissions with outreach, recruitment, and admissions events, as needed.

• Reporting and Analysis

Generates monthly reports for marketing through JRM, vendor partners, database and advertising to track:

Source code overview

Time period inquiries

Time period applications

Email campaign response rates

Event and forum reports and results

Competitive evaluations and analysis- ongoing monitoring of competitive marketing activities

Helps update and coordinate marketing and admissions communications calendars

Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated excellent written communication skills; experienced copywriter across a wide variety of different marketing channels, but especially, email and education and online directories.

Familiar with excel and data reporting and analysis

Demonstrated strong project management skills in order to meet multiple deadlines; strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.

Ability to respond and perform in a favorable, flexible and supportive manner to short lead-time projects covering a broad range of marketing tasks for the organization.

Ability to exercise sound judgment, decision-making, and problem solving skills while also communicating the need for further clarity or direction. Must be capable of working independently within a fast-paced, dynamic, and team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS or BA in Marketing, Communications, Liberal Arts or related field.

Two years of experience in areas of marketing and including creating content (copy, images, template building) for online marketing and campaigns.

Excellent writing, editing and grammar skills

Experience in creating online and email campaigns and targeting for local or national organizations.

Database management and report generation.

Appreciation of experience in higher education communications and marketing.
