Position Opening
Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Facilities Supervisor
Location: Decatur, GA
Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for fulfilling assigned preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance activities on facilities, grounds, equipment, and fleet assets on the Decatur Campus. The Facilities Maintenance Technician will also assist the Facilities Supervisor with activities and record keeping associated with facility set up’s, housekeeping, vendor management, and safety.
This is a full-time opportunity working onsite five days a week in the offices at the UMCH headquarters in Decatur, Georgia. No travel is expected.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews work orders and estimates time and materials needed to complete assigned work.
- Works with the Facilities Supervisor to order materials as needed
- Performs preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance assigned in compliance with all applicable codes and regulatory standards on facility, fleet, and installed systems including plumbing, appliances, roofs, drains, HVAC, and interior finishing’s
- Documents all work performed and materials used on work order
- Conducts monthly inspections of both facilities and fleet for compliance with local codes, and UMCH standards
- Maintains lighting systems across campus including installations, cleaning, repair, and bulb replacement
- Participates in and leads volunteer work groups as requested
- Assists with the physical inventories and distribution of supplies
- Assists with resident move in/out including housing renovation projects
- Assists with grounds and landscaping functions as requested
- Assists with housekeeping functions as requested
· Special Mental or Physical Demands: Lifting 50 pounds, walking on uneven terrain, and frequent bending. Work outdoors (year round) for extended periods of time regardless of the weather condition.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education (GED)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
- Knowledge and experience with building construction and facilities maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, foundations, roofing, safety, security, and compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations.
- Experience maintaining fleet vehicles and grounds maintenance equipment.
- Microsoft Office –experience using Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Proven ability to make sound decisions, often with limited information
- Ability to develop and building strong relationships at all levels in an organization

Location and Work Environment
This position is located at UMCH headquarters in Decatur, Georgia, and the work is conducted in/out of an office setting. Little or no travel is required.
The ability to maintain a flexible work schedule which will include evenings and weekends is required.
