Description of the Ideal Candidate:

raw ingredients, contract negotiation, vendor/supplier relationship management, Food & Beverage background; purchasing; supply chain  - 5-8 years’ experience with an analytical background.



The ideal candidate has worked for these companies:
Pepsi, Coke, Nestle, Splenda, Sara Lee, Kraft; any major food and/or beverage company

Client is a global leader in the consumer packaged foods industry, supplying store brand solutions for the retail and foodservice markets.  Products include zero calorie tabletop sweeteners for hot and cold beverages and granular sweeteners for both tabletop and baking use. Client is also a pioneer in the emerging portable liquid beverage mix category.  Products are manufactured in the USA and distributed throughout North America, Europe, Central and South America, and the Pacific Rim.

 

The purchasing manager will focus on raw ingredients. The candidate will drive the strategic procurement process for food ingredients. Primary responsibilities include negotiation of various raw commodities, resolving supply chain & quality issues, driving productivity through the supply chain and the development of supplier relationships. This role is expected to partner with internal and external constituents to create value and cost savings for the company and suppliers.  Use Lean/Six Sigma concepts to drive process solutions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•           Own the ingredient spend for the company; own the value chain from supplier to manufacturing. Drive productivity.

•           Source ingredients for new product development.

•           Drive cost savings through continuous improvement activities.

•           Responsible for managing all aspects of the purchase order(s) related to category

•           Accountable for Supplier score-carding and quarterly business reviews

•           Responsible for managing inventory metrics for category

•           Jointly plan and execute supplier/ category strategies for assigned categories. Conduct research on market dynamics, cost drivers and supplier business models.

•           Monitor and manage the PPV Plan budget and forecasts through various tools: raw material forecasting, MRP.

•           Ensure compliance to purchase orders in accordance with established policies, procedures and contract terms (i.e. price, time, freight. etc).

•           Proactively communicate supply chain issues to appropriate internal and external customers and coordinate solution implementation.

•           Act as a Procurement representative on cross functional projects. Apply legal and ethical behavior to negotiations and supplier relationships.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

•           Bachelor’s degree in Business or related; Master’s degree a plus

•           ISM certification a preferred (CPM/CPIM) and/or a willingness to pursue.

•           5 - 7+ years in Purchasing; previous ingredients purchasing for food & beverage required.

•           Advanced Excel capabilities

•           Must have a high sense of urgency with the ability to be hands-on, multi-tasking, and aggressive.
