Receptionist – Front Desk (East Palo Alto)
Ecumenical Hunger Program (EHP)

Reports to: Immediate Supervisor: Program Manager
Full-Time Position

The Ecumenical Hunger program (EHP), a 38 year old, private, non-profit, community-based organization located in East Palo Alto provides emergency food, clothing, case management and household essentials to families in need in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto. In addition, EGP plays a major role in both advocating for, and providing referrals to resources available to low-income families and individuals in our community.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Ensure that all front office visitors, donors, volunteers, families and community members are greeted in a warm and friendly manner and are assisted promptly.
2. Answer all incoming phone calls and assist or redirect callers
3. Coordinate front office area, including client sign-in sheets and appointment schedule oversight.
4. Perform general clerical duties
5. Assist as needed contacting clients for their request
6. Assist in data entry for client database (currently a Filemaker Pro based system)
7. Update calendar for volunteer's schedule
8. Provide support for program as needed
9. Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure front desk coverage at all times, including breaks and lunch
10. Maintain and organize brochures and other materials in the reception area
11. Provide occasional translation service
12. Other related duties

Required Skills/Experience
1. High School graduate or equivalent.
2. Knowledge of office procedures (including standard Microsoft Office software)
3. Must have experience using multi-phone lines
4. Experience working in a busy office setting with the ability to multi-task while handling a constant client stream.
5. Demonstrated proficiency in English and Spanish, oral and written required.
6. Able to maintain professional demeanor while dealing with stressful situations, showing courtesy and compassion
7. The ability to interact with a diverse group of clients, community members and volunteers

•$15.00 per hour
•This is a non-profit organization
