Meebo is seeking a media savvy Senior Manager that has a hybrid and in-depth background in traditional PR, social media, and influencer/community communication. In this role, you will develop, juggle, and execute a wide range of PR/social media/influencer communication that moves the needle for: Meebo's awareness, thought leadership, and product adoption among consumers, publishers, and advertisers. Past in-house PR experience and proven ability to drive awareness for mid-sized (or startup) technology companies or new innovations are a must (agency experience is a plus.) This position requires the ability to think strategically, but also be capable of juggling hands-on execution with minimal support. The role will report into the Senior Director of Marketing and PR, and is based at Meebo's headquarters in Mountain View, California, with one day of the week in Meebo's San Francisco office.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Own and execute all of Meebo's PR/social media/influencer & community communication strategy and plan.
Media Relations Expert
- Keep a pulse on industry, audience trends, and stories. Develop content and compelling stories, pitch and place them with a wide range of media outlets – from technology, business, advertising, to consumer.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive editorial calendar (including blog, social media, etc.) and execute all relevant communication.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and lead development of all pr/communication assets for product launches and announcements, including press releases, FAQs, multi-media assets, and social media content.
- Manage media interviews, speaking opportunities; work closely with research and marketing to develop speaking points and reference materials.
- Own and manage timely updates for press information on Meebo.com.
- Identify necessary tools, services to fill in any resource gaps, manage all vendor relationships and budget, including PR agency and other services and tools.
- Establish measurements and use the right tool to track share of voice, reputation and sentiment, analyze and deliver key insights that can be used for strategic planning.
Social Strategist & Influencer/Community Communication Expert
- Develop, propose, and execute a social media strategy and program that takes the dialogue with the Meebo audience and social media presence to the next level; inspired by great success stories from the world's most admired brands and other best practices.
- Collaborate with customer service, product, and business departments to actively manage all social media communications and profile updates.
- Collaborate with marketing and product to ideate influencer/community communication strategies and plans. Manage all outreach.
- Event support.
Qualifications:
- 7-12 years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of 4-6 years of solid in-house public relations experience at a mid-size or startup company.
- You possess trusted relationships with both consumer and trade press, key bloggers and influencers that matter.
- Expertise in the web industry, technology innovations preferred.
- Good understanding of the online media business and online advertising preferred.
- Expertise with sourcing and managing story development, with excellent writing skills.
- Strong ability to think through, plan, and execute multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- You are a social media addict, news junkie and love to write.
- You know what delights early adopters and how to communicate with influencers.
- Familiar with social media, blogging, photo sharing, video sharing tools and applications.
- Your portfolio is rich with great ideas and implementation examples of how a mid-size or startup technology company can increase awareness mixing both traditional and social media strategies.
- Excellent social, communication skills.
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in journalism, English, or communications preferred.
- Occasional domestic travel will be required.
