The Systems Engineer is responsible for managing projects and support DNS and LDAP infrastructure, Solaris, Linux and Windows Operating Systems running both on Physical and Virtual Servers, Private Cloud with System Hardening skills in a mission-critical, 24/7 ecommerce environment. He/She requires the ability to troubleshoot the issue, perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions for failure point. He/She must be a strong technical implementer and team member.Competencies: Skills, knowledge, & abilities Functional Competencies:Ability to translate business requirements into efficient technology. Ability to influence, train, mentor and leverage the skills of others, including Directors and above, to achieve objectives.Experience:B.S. in computer science (or similar) or equivalent experience 6 years of system administration experience with Solaris/Linux in a 24x7 environment4 years of experience in HA solutions like Veritas and Sun Cluster4 years of experience in production support, including problem identification, root cause analysis, ticket documentation, customer and vendor relations4 years of experience in building servers using Jumpstart and Kickstart with OS patching and upgrades experience.4 years of experience designing, leading and implementing small to medium-scale technology projects Experience working with Client Blades and high end ORACLE hardware.Experience and knowledge of automation tools like Chef, Puppet , RunDeck etcAdvance knowledge of server virtualization technology in VMware and Cloud infrastructureKnowledge of monitoring tools like Nagios/HPOV/Cacti/Graphite a plusStrong Bash, Ruby or Perl scripting competencyCloud computing experience on OpenStack a plusIn-depth knowledge of SAN, NAS with experience a plusExperience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean, Kanban, etc.) a plusStrong automation skills with the ability to covert and simplify manual processes with scripting and automation tools.Knowledge of Java, C, or similar programming languages a plusIn-depth knowledge and usage of various versioning source control systems like (CVS , SVN , GitHub etc) a plus | |||||||
