QA Software Engineer - San Francisco Based
Job Description:
The Test Engineer will help his/her team to own quality, create light-weight test plans, review the automation of tests, prioritize bugs, and work closely with product managers to create acceptance criteria for development stories. This person will become a domain expert in their assigned area, and must develop and maintain excellent working relationships across multiple groups (developers, product, marketing, etc.). The Test Engineer also identifies, recommends and creates improvements to processes/tools to increase the team's ability to own their quality.
Key Responsibilities / Performance Requirements:
* Help plan, scope, schedule and implement testing activities for projects of varying size and complexity
* Contribute to daily Scrum standup and related meetings (planning, retrospective, sizing, etc.)
* Partner with the team and test automation engineers to determine which tests to automate
* Enable the team to implement cleaner features by working with product owners to evaluate their stories and acceptance criteria for completeness ahead of the sprint
* Prevent bugs by helping to move quality upstream in the product development processes
* Manages bug flow, owning bug triage processes and promoting the fixing and validation of bugs
* Facilitate earlier bug detection
* Responsible for communicating status, metrics, and trending of quality for the team
* Manage off-shore and contractor testing resourcesHelp identify and drive changes and improvements (i.e., not just a passive participant)
Required Experience and Skills: solid experience in Web based Testing
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
* 7+ years of software test experience (preferably with web-based applications)
* Working knowledge of testing methodologies, testing techniques and approaches
* Working knowledge of Scrum (Agile, XP, etc.), project planning and execution
* Passionate about quality and software testing
* Demonstrated self-motivation and self-management, and ability to prioritize the testing workload
* Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical tendencies
* Ability to take the customer perspectiveAbility to quickly learn new areas, and identify and prioritize the related testing work
* Ability to multitask, adapt and thrive in an environment of change and evolving processes
* Exposure to / familiarity with JSP and HTML
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
