Responsibilities:
• Apply state of the art statistical modeling/machine learning and data mining techniques in the areas of:
record linkage, search relevance and ranking, and recommender systems
DNA matching and Identity by Descent (IBD)
• Implement an experimentation infrastructure with associated tools and processes for quick prototyping and evaluation of novel approaches to modeling
• An emphasis on coding or practice and on working closely with other Engineering teams to insure algorithms are delivered into production systems.
Requirements:
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field is preferred
• 4-8 years of management experience (individual must be very "hands on")
• Very strong grasp of algorithms and data structures
• Command of Python and/or Java
• Comfortable working in a Linux environment
• Experience in statistical learning on medium-size or large-size data
• Experience in machine learning on MapReduce and Hadoop
• Experience with statistical modeling techniques, e.g., logistic regression, decision trees, SVMs.
• Experience in R and/or Matlab
• Ability to use knowledge of recent techniques and research to invent and propose new approaches and methodologies
Pluses:
• Experience in search relevance and/or recommender systems
• Bioinformatics background helpful
